Extension, consolidation, arrangement, restoration and modernization works at the headquarters of the Dolj Agency of the National Bank of Romania

The building of the Dolj Agency of the National Bank of Romania is a historical monument of category “B” with the following stages: the central part with the two lateral annexes was built in 1888, and the part of the entrance hall and the windshield is added in 1926, and in 1955 a D + P body was added + 1E with a frame structure.

Inside, the client wanted a restoration of the decorations that disappeared over time in the spirit and style of the 1900s when the building was built. For a reference to these missing elements, a bright ceiling has been restored in the spirit of the skylights present at the time in the central area of ​​the new conference room on the ground floor.

Other restoration works were done on the upholstery of wooden furniture up to h = 120 cm and the “mirrors” proposed from textile wallpaper (silk) and wooden profiles. Wooden boxes were mounted on the ceiling in the conference room, and in the other areas the stucco ceilings and chandeliers.

Valuable objects (mosaic floors, carpentry, metal railings) have been preserved and renovated where it was possible. Any decoration was executed according to the plans and images presented after a post-consolidation report. The wooden carpentry was completely replaced by a new carpentry, which kept the existing model.

In the eastern part, consolidation works were done at the base. The apparent brick finish has been preserved, cleaned and reconditioned, the metal part has been restored, including the gate. As a result of the consolidation works in the area adjacent to the fence, a concrete wall was provided for taking over the meteoric waters. The decoration at the top of the fence base has been reconditioned with mosaic. The pedestrian areas were paved with cubic stone (granite) with anti-slip treatment and granite curbs.
